1981 Modern Remodel - Summer 2025
This 1981 modern home had great architectural bones and a naturally functional layout, but it needed to be thoughtfully updated to meet the needs of a family of five.
The goal was to prioritize the spaces that would make the greatest impact on everyday living. Upstairs, new flooring and paint refreshed the bedrooms and hallways, while a new laundry room was added to bring this essential function to the same level as the bedrooms—making everyday life, and laundry, a whole lot easier. On the main level, the kitchen was in desperate need of a complete remodel before the family could move in, making it the primary focus of the renovation. The remaining spaces on this level received refreshed paint and a careful restoration of the existing hardwood floors, allowing the original character of the home to shine.
The result is a home that feels fresh, cohesive, and beautifully suited to the way this family lives—proving that thoughtful design doesn't always mean changing everything. Sometimes, it's about knowing what to transform and what to preserve.
